This page explains how the BareRoots store uses information when you browse, shop, or follow an ambassador's link.

Orders and customer information

When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, shipping address, and order details to process your purchase, ship your items, and send order and tracking updates. Payments are processed through Stripe. Order information is saved in our store and included in notifications to the store owner.

Ambassador links and discounts

An ambassador link identifies the person who referred you. A valid, active referral can apply a product discount at checkout and credit the ambassador for your purchase. A coupon replaces the ambassador discount; the discounts do not stack.

We keep a valid referral in your current browser tab's session storage so it can follow you from page to page. This works before you accept cookies and also if you decline. It normally ends when the tab is closed, and the referral expires after 30 days even if the tab remains open. Visiting a different valid ambassador link replaces the previous referral.

The optional ambassador cookie

We show the cookie banner when there is a valid ambassador referral to remember and you have not already made a choice in this browser. A regular visit without a referral does not trigger this banner.

• Accept: we save a cookie named br_ambassador on the BareRoots site. It stores the ambassador's link identifier, not your name, email, payment details, or shipping address. It lets us restore that referral on a later visit.
• Decline: we do not save that referral cookie, and we remove it if it already exists. The referral can still apply during your current tab's shopping session.
• Duration: the cookie lasts up to 30 days from acceptance. If you have already accepted, following another valid ambassador link saves that referral and starts a new 30-day period.

Your Accept or Decline choice is saved in this browser's local storage so we do not ask on every page. You can change it using Cookie settings in the footer when a referral or an accepted preference is present. You can also clear this site's cookies and storage in your browser. Changing your preference does not remove referral details already saved with completed orders.

Ambassador reports

We count visits through ambassador links and record referral information with orders. Ambassador reports are available to anyone with the report link. They show referral click totals and paid sales, including the order date, product revenue, customer first name and last initial, and a masked email address. They do not show full last names, full email addresses, shipping addresses, or payment identifiers.

Other browser storage and services

The store also uses browser storage to keep your cart and checkout information available while you shop. Administrative sign-in uses a session cookie.

Our shopping pages use Google Analytics to understand site usage. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visits; see Google's cookie information. The Accept and Decline controls described above apply to the optional ambassador cookie, not to Google Analytics or payment services.
